Carbon footprint the size of Montanna
I picked up this bottle of sparkling water today in Fort Myers for $1.89.

According to the bottle the water was bottled at the source in Norway; full, it weighed just over a pound, and I got to thinking, how much CO2 was expelled in getting this bottle of Norwegian water to me, so I could enjoy it on a particularly warm winter’s day in Fort Myers.
I’m guessing it was cargo shipped here rather than via air (as the price would have probably been 5x what I paid), but even with that, it seems like a terrible waste of energy to move that water from Norway to the Southeast United States. Hell, just take nice, clean tap water, add some CO2 to it, and I’m good to go. As much as I like fancy sparkling water, I think I’ll move back to domestic (local, if possible…damn you Calistoga, why do you have to be in California?!?!?) water.
Good god, am I turning green? That might the final sign of the impending Apocalypse…
