Chicago: Where you can’t fire a cop who beats old people

Seriously? Is the judge for real? I particularly love this low-life cop’s attorney reaction:

“Obviously he is pleased that the Circuit Court judge affirmed the police board’s ruling,” said Cozzi’s attorney, William Fahy. “The police board made the right case based on what they heard. This is an officer who had a stellar career for 13 years without any disciplinary history. From the very beginning, he owned up for what he did and was remorseful for his actions. The police board had to balance his stellar law enforcement career against the wrongdoing.”
-Judge: Police Supt. Jody Weis can’t fire cop who beat man cuffed to wheelchair

Yeah, he had such a stellar history so much so that he beat the living shit out of a handcuffed man who was not resisting.

While Supt. Weis must follow the ruling of the court, he should closely re-examine Officer Cozzi’s record to see if there is a pattern of abuse of authority which would be a legitimate reason to terminate this asshat’s sworn status.
