Cue these ads for repeat

April 13th, 2008 | Category: AA

I’m just waiting to see AMR roll this campaign back out:

That being said, I have always loved this ad campaign, and think that AA should bring it back as it is a great emotional piece about how an airline really IS more than just a collection of planes, gates, and slots…it is an economic engine, and a great show of freedom…when people can come and go as they please, that really is freedom.

My personal favorites of the ads are the people walking about the AA Eagle at LAX, the ORD ramp crew guy, the cut-shot of the guy belting up in the cockpit jumpseat (great action shot) the MD-80 coasting in for a landing, the end shot of the 757 off into the sunset, the plane bridge at ORD, the pilot walk-around in dusk, and, of course, a great use of Enya.

31F?!?!?!?!?!?

March 10th, 2008 | Category: AA

Robbyn and I got to LGA a couple hours early, and was able to stand-by for an earlier flight. I gave up a confirmed upgrade (I know, you’re all sad for me), for row 31?!?!?!?!

Might I point out that on an AA MD-80, Row 31 is right next to the engine. It was loud.

Revel in this boarding pass, who knows when you’ll see a domestic boarding pass this far back. :-)

New Advances in Cockpit Security!

January 21st, 2008 | Category: De plane! De plane!

Here we see American Airlines demonstrating their new cockpit security method for their MD-80 fleet:

Now, if that looks like a food cart wedged in the aisle while the (co-)pilot is using the lavatory or the F/A is servicing the cockpit, then yes, you’re right…that’s EXACTLY what they’re doing now.

MMMMYeah, this’ll work.
